Protect Early, Fix What Polishes Out, Read Your Lease
The cheapest lease return is the one where the damage never happened. Front-end paint protection film early in the lease keeps chips off the panels that take them. Near the end, paint correction and a proper detail deal with light marks. Your leasing company's wear guide decides what matters.
Every leasing company has its own rules about what counts as normal wear. Start by reading yours.
Protecting a New Lease
Film where the chips land
Stone chips on the bumper and hood are some of the most common marks on a highway car. Film on the front bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors takes those hits instead of the paint. Door edge film helps with parking lot nicks.
A coating for easier washing
A ceramic coating does not stop chips, but it makes salt and grime easier to wash off. A car that is easy to keep clean tends to get washed more often.
Look after the interior
Use floor mats in winter, clean up spills early and keep pet hair under control. Interior wear is often easier to prevent than to fix.
Getting Ready for Inspection
Walk the car in good light
Go round every panel in daylight, then again with a flashlight. Note chips, scratches, scuffs on the bumper corners and curb rash on the wheels. Compare what you find with your lease wear guide.
Know what polishing can do
Swirls, haze and scratches that sit in the clear coat can often be polished out or made much less visible. Chips and deep scratches through the clear coat need paint repair, not polish.
Detail it inside and out
A full detail before the car goes back removes the grime, salt marks and pet hair that make a car look worn. Book it close to your turn-in date so it is still clean on the day.
Common Questions
What counts as excess wear on a lease return?
That is set by your leasing company, not by us. Read the wear guide in your lease paperwork, or ask the leasing company for it, before you decide what to fix.
Is it worth putting PPF on a leased car?
If you drive a lot of highway kilometres, film on the front end can keep the bumper and hood free of chips for the length of the lease. Whether it pays off depends on your lease terms and how you drive.
Can paint correction remove scratches before turn-in?
Scratches in the clear coat can often be reduced or removed by machine polishing. Scratches that go through the clear coat cannot be polished out. We look at the paint first and tell you which is which.
Should I clean the interior before turn-in?
A clean interior makes a better first impression at inspection. Stains, pet hair and salt marks are worth dealing with before the car goes back.
