Car Detailing & Paint Protection for Hamilton

The Short Answer

Detailing and Protection for the Whole City

If you are anywhere in Hamilton, you can request a quote and arrange a drop-off appointment at our Ancaster studio for paint protection film, coatings, tint, wraps and detailing. Ancaster is part of the City of Hamilton. Weekday appointments only.

Hamilton is big and varied. How you drive on the Mountain is different from how you park downtown, so the right protection depends on where your car spends its week.

Where Your Car Spends Its Week

On the Mountain

The Lincoln Alexander Parkway crosses the Mountain and connects to the Red Hill Valley Parkway, which runs down to the QEW near Hamilton Harbour. Daily use of either means highway-speed debris on the front end.

West Hamilton and Westdale

Highway 403 comes down the escarpment into the lower city and runs through a narrow, built-up corridor alongside the former Highway 8. Short highway hops and city stop-and-go both leave their mark, mostly on the bumper and lower panels.

Downtown

Street parking and tight lots mean door dings, scuffed bumpers and the odd key scratch. Door-edge film and a good coating help, and paint correction can remove light marks.

The east end

The Red Hill Valley Parkway and the QEW are the main fast roads here. The City treats the Red Hill and the Linc as top-priority winter roads, so in season they carry plenty of brine and salt along with the usual grit.

Winter across the city

The City of Hamilton lists rock salt, a sand and salt mix it calls pickle mix, salt brine and a product called Fusion among the materials it uses on city roads (City of Hamilton media release, December 2017). That residue ends up on the lower panels and wheels, and in your carpets.

Read road salt and your paint for what to do about it.

Hamilton FAQ

Common Questions

Do you come to me in Hamilton?

For private customers, the work is done at our studio, so you drop the car off. Pickup is offered for fleet accounts. Ask us if you run company vehicles.

I park on the street downtown. What should I protect?

Door edges and rear bumpers take the most nicks from tight parking. A strip of paint protection film on the door edges is a small job that saves a lot of touch-up paint.

Which highway causes the most chips?

Any road you drive at highway speed. For Hamilton that usually means the Linc, the Red Hill Valley Parkway, the 403 or the QEW. The front end takes the hits on all of them.

Can I get a replacement car while mine is in the shop?

Yes. We rent replacement vehicles by the day, week or month. See car rentals.
